- The notion location includes surroundings (region, natural and man-made landscape,
historic/archaeological/cultural sites and monuments, bad-weather entertainment
and outdoor activities infrastructure, the yard/garden, auxiliary structures, and
the building itself) and access (distance to the city, state of the roads, visibility
of the way to the accommodation, parking place).
- Individual for each case. The list should be made on the basis of the answer to
the previous question.
- Major principles of the accommodation building are aesthetics (fitting into the
natural landscape and surroundings, fitting into the general idea/concept of your
business, attractiveness, unique features, meeting the expectations of your target
group) and functionality (safety, convenient operation, durable and affordable construction
materials, reasonable running costs).
- Individual on the country level.
- Maintenance works are performed to ensure compliance with legal obligations (safety,
hygienic norms), prolong the lifetime of your property, and make a positive impression
on the tourists. Outdoor maintenance operations should include cleaning up the surrounding
area, access roads, paths, porches, etc. of litter and snow/ice, upgrading indicators
leading to your accommodation, painting and repairing the building and auxiliary
structures, optionally – improving the state of the roads, clearing and marking
the trails.
- The minimum set of furniture at the reception allowing normal functioning includes
a desk, chair, computer/notepad, rack for keys, telephone, file cabinet for different
documents, cash register, rack for information materials, optionally equipment for
payment by card.
- Basic indoor self-entertainment possibilities include games such as the chess, cards,
ping-pong, billiard/pool, reading books, listening to the music, and painting for
children, etc. Knowing your target clientele you can think of some more options.
- When arranging the common lounge, think of installing fire safety devices, ventilation
system, providing acoustic insulation, shelves, a table, sofa, chairs/armchairs,
a fireplace, various atmospheric details (paintings, curtaining, candles, rugs,
tapestry), entertaining elements such as a mini-library, TV-set, CD-player/tape-recorder,
equipment for games, etc.

and guest safety for the room and furniture design, particular items, providing

chair(s), table or desk, closet for clothes with hangers, waste bin, mirror, curtains,
floor covering / carpeting, dry cell for clothes if no common drying facilities

in the room can be self-service cooking facilities such as an oven/stove, fridge,
micro-wave, a TV-set, video, phone, and different pieces of furniture of a higher
comfort/luxury level (sofas, low tables, etc)and a lot more.
- Rooms for families with children require a good sound insulation, safe plugs, high
banisters on the balcony, extra-furniture pieces such as a high chair, cot/crib,
and preferably private-use cooking equipment, fridge, and access to laundry washing
facilities.
- The 3 factors giving an unusual character to the guest space and raising the guest’s
interest are its shape/form (e.g., a 6-angular cottage), material it is made of
(e.g., snow, ice, pine wood), and the idea (e.g., traditional dwelling of the peoples
of a particular region).
- Igloo, ger, different kinds of wooden huts, etc.
