You shall pose a number of questions to yourself and give clear answers to all of them. Which type of accommodation can be most successful and feasible for you? What shall be the theme of the accommodation (e.g., Hunter’s lodge, romantic get-away, stay in traditional countryside, trip back to the Middle Ages, etc.)? Which name best reflects this theme? Which architecture and interior style will best suit the idea? What will be the quality, level of comfort, and luxury at your accommodation? Which set of services shall be provided? What will make your accommodation unique and give it a distinctive special character? What is the good way to start, what should be done now and what is better tobe postponed and included in the plans for the future? This is a general direction to proceed, while the possibilities for each major aspect of accommodation – main facilities and services will be outlined further in this module in sections 3.Main accommodationfacilities and operation, 4.Preparing and serving meals, 6.Extra facilities and services, 8.Environmentally-friendly accommodation.
At the stage of product development you should go through the general concept and consider all the details very meticulously, ensuring that all the aspects match. For example, if you state that you have a family accommodation, you need to take care of arranging family rooms, a playground, a special menu for children, provide opportunities for sleighing, skating, getting acquainted with barn residents and other farm activities, etc. Offering green holidays in the countryside, you shall offer more than scenic and tranquil surroundings: your eco-tourists will appreciate untouched landscape and characteristic architecture style of the buildings, specific local food grown in your garden, information about wildlife, trails and local customs, etc.
