Hungary has a colorful and varied culture reflecting its mix of peoples - the majority Magyars, and Roma, German, Slovak, Croat, Serb and Romanian minorities. The landlocked country is home of the Lake Balaton, the largest lake in central Europe, and of a large number of spa towns and hot springs. There are rich traditions in folk and classical music. It also has a long history of wine making. Rural tourism, including villages, mountains and spa facilities started already in the 19th century and became quickly popular among tourists from West Europe.
