It should be remembered that the average optimal room temperature is +19 C in the daytime and not +23 C as commonly believed. That is why quite often people find hotels too hot and prefer to open the windows in winter in order to get “fresh” (actually, just cooler) air. In the night the temperature can decrease even more (to +15C) without causing any discomfort to the guests.
For cutting heating expenses, it is recommended that thermal regulation system be installed, i.e. the temperature should be regulated by thermostat during night [around +15C] and day [+19C], with the temperature starting to rise one hour before your guests wake up and decreasing after their going to bed). If you have individual thermostats in each guest room, you can set thermostats at a modest level, and if your guests need it, they will raise it. Adjustable temperature in the room not only saves your costs for energy, but also contributes to the higher comfort of your customers.
In addition to this, staff shall pay special attention to particular weather days: on clear-sky days the sunny part of the building collects the heat of the sunshine. Level of heating then can be decreased in such areas.
