Surroundings

The first impression of your guests is the strongest one and it is from outside. The quality and attractiveness of the surroundings play here the major role. Especially this concerns accommodations in remote areas, since the guests expect quietness and scenic landscapeinrural and mountainous regions.

Usually track-bounded accommodations are situated in picturesque areas having something special about them: it can be a quiet village famous for keeping its traditional lifestyle, with rich traditions and rituals or beautiful naturewith mountain peaks, lakes and wild forests. You can enhance your chances to arise the interest of your potential clients by emphasizing the given specialties of the place - by placing luring pictures of the surroundings and accommodation on the website, giving interesting information about your area in the brochure, cooperating with other entrepreneurs and local NGOs/authorities in order to increase the fame of your region, etc.

The easiest way to improve the quality of the surroundings can be to design a nice garden or a green area around the building. Your visitors will definitely value seeing your care and attention given to the area. Someof accommodation owners in “far-from-civilization” areas actively participate in preserving the existing natural landscape.

In addition to the natural beauty, interest to historic, archaeological or cultural sites, the attractivenessof the surroundings for the customer includesthe existing infrastructure – this means nearby entertainment and active recreation opportunities. So, for example, you can think of creating, maintaining and promoting trails and paths (for short/full day walks, of different degree of difficulty) that will be appreciated by various groups of tourists ranging from families and elderly people to sportive and adventurous clientele. More large-scale actions, like developing a regional trail network can become possible in cooperation with national parks, NGOsand land owners.

Generally, it is important to take care of the feeling of hospitality and welcome that your place and the area around should irradiate. It is always pleasant to suddenly find yourself in a warm and cosy ambience. Therefore, thorough planning and design of the facilities, designing a carved wooden fence, nice gardenand adding other attractive details may become significant. When changing something outside, always consider it from the point of view of arriving guests, think whether it fits into the surroundings and corresponds to the existing theme. Do not disregard any trifles - even such a practical thing ashaving a dog can become an obstacle to your business, asit does not really appear an invitation to your accommodation, though it can bevery effective inguardingthe property.
